The third and final round of International fixtures begins today. Two players, namely Riqui Puig and Frenkie De Jong, will feature today for their national squads across all competitions. Barça Universal takes a look at what could today’s match offer for these two.

Gibraltar vs the Netherlands

This match could see the Dutch midfielder, De Jong, in action for his country tonight. After a shocking 4-2 loss against Turkey, Netherlands has managed to make a strong comeback with an emphatic 2-0 victory against Latvia. They will look to continue with this run of form against the 195th placed Gibraltar.

The Dutch midfielder put up a great performance against Latvia, giving four key passes and created one big chance. He will look to continue this run of performance with the last 11 crucial games fast approaching for Barcelona.

This tie would also feature Barça’s two transfer targets, Memphis Depay and Georgino Wjinaldum. Depay continued his spectacular run of form in the International fixtures too. He has assisted one goal and has produced 11 key passes in two matches. However, he has not been in his best form in front of the goal.

Wjinaldum had a match to forget against the Turkish national team. He was played as a no. 10 in that match. The 30-year-old did not look comfortable at all in that position. In the match against Latvia, he was shifted back to the second pivot in the 4-2-3-1 and had a decent game. He also has interesting fixtures coming up against Real Madrid in the Champions League and will look to regain his top form.

Spain U-21 vs. Czech Republic U-21

This match could feature Puig, however, he has not played a single minute in the last two matches. Spain can not afford to lose this match in order to qualify for the next stage. This means that the coach, Luis de la Fuente, will look to field his strongest lineup, and the 21-year-old Barca midfielder does not seem to be a part of it.

Another player who could have featured today is Oscar Mingueza. His red card for almost nothing against Italy keeps him suspended for today’s game. Undoubtedly, it’s unfortunate for the national team, it might serve Barcelona some good as he would finally get some rest before a crucial stretch of 11 games coming up.
