Following their midweek disappointment against Galatasaray, Barcelona will switch their focus back towards La Liga as they get set to take on Osasuna on Sunday.

Having been held to a goalless draw by the Turkish giants in the UEFA Europa League on Thursday night, Xavi Hernandez & co. will be keen on bouncing back to winning ways at Camp Nou this weekend.

Following Atletico Madrid’s victory over Cadiz on Friday night, Barça have slipped to fourth place and will be hoping to reclaim the third spot with a victory over Osasuna.

However, as reported by SPORT, the Blaugrana might decide to go into the game without star defender Ronald Araujo.

Indeed, Xavi Hernandez is considering benching the Uruguayan defender for Sunday’s visit of Osasuna. But the decision has nothing to do with his display against Galatasaray which was far from his best.

Instead, Araujo could be benched to avoid the risk of him being suspended for the crucial El Clasico against Real Madrid next weekend.

The 23-year-old centre-back is currently on four yellow cards, after picking up a booking in the 2-1 win over Elche last weekend. Another booking against Osasuna on Sunday night would see him get suspended for a game due to an accumulation of cards.

Xavi and Barça are keen on avoiding such a scenario. Araujo missed the last El Clasico in La Liga earlier this season due to a hamstring injury, and the team management wants to ensure that he is available for selection against Real Madrid.

As a result, the Uruguayan international could find himself out of the starting XI this weekend, with Gerard Pique and Eric Garcia likely to start at the heart of the Catalans’ defence.
