Barcelona made it 3 wins out of 3 in the Champions League, narrowly beating Dynamo Kyiv by 2 goals to 1 at the Camp Nou on Wednesday evening. Koeman’s side started the game in rampant fashion, but only got one goal for their efforts, and soon let Dynamo into the game. By the end of the second half, Barcelona had won the game, but looked very poor out there, and gave Dynamo some great chances to score. This was yet another sloppy performance from Barcelona, and Koeman’s side were ultimately saved by the heroics of Marc-André ter Stegen in goal.
Koeman will once more be questioning his side’s ability in front of goal, as we missed a number of key chances and failed to put Dynamo to the sword. But the main worry will be in Barcelona’s defence, which got absolutely run over by Dynamo for large parts of the game, and the Catalans were fortunate to only concede 1 goal.
It’s a performance that leaves massive question marks looming over Ronald Koeman’s side, and with Real Betis and Atlético Madrid coming up in La Liga, Barcelona will be under big pressure to improve their performances, and get some much needed points in La Liga.
Watch: Barcelona 5-1 Alavés, Match Review
Barcelona emphatically defeat Alavés at the Camp Nou by five goals to one, with Trincão, Messi and Junior all on the scoresheet. This was a good confidence builder for Barça, heading into the game against PSG on Tuesday, as Ronald Koeman was able to rotate his side, whilst picking up 3 more points. Check out my full match review below:
Koeman also handed out a first league start to youngster Ilaix Moriba, who despite his error leading up to Rioja’s goal for Alavés, did impress on the night. But standout performers were certainly Lionel Messi and Francisco Trincão. The former showcasing his eternal genius once more, with the latter slowly building confidence and turning into an effective goal scoring winger for Barcelona.
