Two reasons why Dembélé decided to continue at Barcelona

The Frenchman was extremely close to leaving the club this summer but he ended up staying. Now, we’ve been given the two main reasons why Ousmane Dembélé decided to continue at Barcelona.
The last couple of days of the transfer market were all about the young winger and Manchester United. The Red Devils insisted on a loan deal while the Catalans wanted a straight-up sale. Because of that, the deal fell through.
However, it does seem like there are two main reasons why Dembélé decided to continue at Barcelona. The first one, the report states, is of financial nature.

Man United had just signed Edinson Cavani and their salary pool was suddenly in the red. This, of course, was also aided by the recent outbreak which made the footballing world record tremendous losses anyway.
Barcelona were persisting on a sale, not a loan, and that meant the English side would have to spend – a lot. But it’s the second reason that is quite interesting indeed.
Dembélé wants to succeed at Barça and will use this season to prove his worth. Of course, this is also not the first time we hear this and it remains to be seen whether he can back those words up on the pitch.

So far, injuries have made that task impossible. But with the new season and a new coach, he gets a clean slate. The other issue is that Ronald Koeman doesn’t see him as a key piece of the jigsaw.
For that reason, he’ll have to work much harder if he wants to make it.
