Three key details from Raphinha’s move to Barcelona

After months of negotiations, Barcelona are finally on the verge of securing a deal to sign Raphinha this summer.

The news was confirmed by reliable journalist Fabrizio Romano, who has given his “here we go!” for the deal, which should be made official as soon as the two clubs iron out the final arrangements.

Fabrizio Romano has offered additional details about Barcelona’s deal to sign the Leeds United superstar in his latest tweets, with the Catalans set to fork out a fee of €58 million upfront for the Brazilian international.

Barça have opted to include several performance-related add-ons in the Raphinha deal in order to woo Leeds United. Romano suggests the overall valuation of the add-ons could be up to €9 million, meaning the total cost of the operation is likely to be around €67 million.

Raphinha will be signing a five-year contract with the Blaugrana. He has had an agreement with the club since four months, with his agent Deco playing a key role in facilitating his move to Barça amid interest from Chelsea.

As far as Raphinha’s salary is concerned, the forward could earn up to €6 million per year at Barcelona. It would keep him in line with the salaries of other new signings in Andreas Christensen and Franck Kessie.

The addition of Raphinha is unlikely to be the end of the transfer business for Barça, however, with the club expected to extend the deal to sign Ousmane Dembele while Robert Lewandowski remains a top target despite fruitless negotiations with FC Bayern.

Lewandowski, who has received death threats from angry Bayern fans, is hopeful he can complete a move to Barcelona in the coming weeks, as the club look to indulge in negotiations with the Bavarians one more time.

As for Raphinha, the Brazilian is expected to arrive in Barcelona today to complete his medical, with an official announcement expected on Thursday or Friday.
