It is often said that one man’s pain is another man’s pleasure, and this is exactly what happened when Barcelona took on Sevilla last night.

While the match was only decided by a solitary, it came off the boots of none other than former Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos. You just can’t write stories like these.

However it may seem, Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen was tested quite a few times by Sevilla, among which was former Barça midfielder Ivan Rakitic, who attempted a long-range strike in the first half, but his attempt was saved after all.

While speaking about the German stopper, the Croatian went on record to say that his former teammate happens to be the best goalkeeper in the world.

“Ter Stegen is the best goalkeeper in the world, and goalkeepers win matches,” he told Movistar+ (h/t MARCA).

“Ter Stegen has shown how good he is. We wanted to get something out of here and it couldn’t be,” he added.

The German stopper made some neat saves during the game and while he will be happy with the clean sheet, he said that the scoreline could have been better.

“We should have scored at least two goals in the first half. Luckily we did end up winning the match,” he said. “It was always going to be difficult to face Sevilla.”

“We had chances to score, but fatigue set in and we found a very lucky goal. We are very satisfied with the three points,” he added.

As it turns out, Ramos’ own goal, which came through the header of Lamine Yamal, allowed Barcelona to go to the top of the league standings, however, this position could be temporary as Real Madrid are due to face Girona in their eighth league match.

If the Los Blancos come out victorious, they will move to the top spot, although only with a solitary point.
