Roma ready to offer €10m for Barcelona winger, club wants to put in buy-back clause

Barcelona have an important summer coming up, with the club liking to sanction the exit of multiple unwanted players in an attempt to balance the books.

While the list is likely to be dominated by the likes of Philippe Coutinho and Antoine Griezmann, Barcelona might also sanction the departure of a few of the youth players who have fallen out of favour.

One such player could be Abde Ezzalzouli. Formerly of Hercules, the 20-year-old had been a part of the Barcelona side last summer.

While the youngster was initially brought in to supplement Barcelona’s reserve squad, the club’s lack of depth in the frontline saw him earn a breakthrough under Ronald Koeman.

Abde even went on to feature in ten league games for Barcelona this season, scoring one goal. But his game-time has taken a significant hit following the arrival of Xavi Hernandez, coupled with a busy transfer window that saw the club bring in three new attackers.

The young Moroccan has now fallen behind the pecking order, often being restricted to playing for the Barcelona B squad. Many expect him to move on in the summer, in search of more game-time elsewhere.

A recent report from Corriere Dello Sport (h/t Diario SPORT) has already offered an update on the future of the young winger, subjecting him to a potential move to AS Roma.

The Giallorossi are determined to sign Abde in the summer and have initiated contact with Barça, exploring the possibility of a summer swoop. Roma are prepared to fork out around €10 million to secure his services next season.

Barcelona are open to a sale as well, but the Catalans would want to enforce a buyback clause in the contract.

Roma have shown no intention to include a buy-back clause, but these are still early phases of negotiations and a lot can be clarified in a few weeks, especially after the 2021/22 campaign in Europe comes to an end.
