The future of Robert Lewandowski has turned into a soap opera this summer, with many still unsure over what the future holds for the Bayern Munich forward.

Barcelona are in contention to sign the Pole ahead of the new season, but the Catalans have not had much luck negotiating an agreement with the Bavarians, who are holding out for a hefty fee of around €50 million.

While the Lewandowski saga has left both sets of fans frustrated, the situation has also taken a hideous turn as the player’s family has become the target of many violent German fans.

Such has been reported on the local German news outlet NTV, which suggests Lewandowski’s family has received violent messages, including death threats from various fans across Germany, in light of his desire to leave Bayern.

Lewandowski had earlier come under fire for his strong public statements against Bayern, over their treatment of him at the club. His comments were not taken well by the Bayern supporters, with even the top brass voicing their displeasure.

Although Lewandowski has not publicly confirmed reports of such death threats, the forward has reportedly left his wife Anna Lewandowska and their two daughters in their vacation home in Mallorca.

It appears the Polish international is waiting for the storm to settle, and for Barcelona to make a fresh offer in an attempt to secure his move away from the Allianz Arena.

However, until the transfer saga comes to a conclusion, Lewandowski has vowed to remain professional. He was even pictured outside a hospital in Munich today to kickstart his pre-season preparations for Bayern, with many claiming the forward had even trained with the first team.

With hostile football fans making their displeasure known, Lewandowski will be keen on sealing a conclusion to his transfer saga and preferably secure a move to Barcelona in the coming days, so he can be a part of the club’s pre-season tour to the United States.
