Frenkie de Jong has been at the centre of intense transfer speculation all through the summer. The 25-year-old Barcelona ace has been heavily linked with a move to Premier League giants Manchester United.

Talks between the two clubs have been ongoing for months now, even though the midfielder has continued to state that he does not wish to leave Camp Nou.

However, now a fresh and detailed report from SPORT has now reiterated his stance, claiming that de Jong has no intentions of leaving Barcelona from Manchester United this summer.

The report then goes into detail and provides ten reasons why the Dutchman does not intend to move to Old Trafford this summer, despite the chance of a reunion with his former AFC Ajax manager Erik ten Hag.

The first reason for de Jong’s decision to not leave for Manchester United is that he has brought a house in the Pedralbes locality of Barcelona. It is one of the best and most expensive areas in the city and the midfielder invested in the property as he sees himself staying in Catalonia for many years.

The second reason for the 25-year-old’s decision is that his partner Mikky Kiemeney is very happy in Barcelona. The pair recently got engaged and despite not having been for long in the city, have developed a connection with the Catalan capital.

Furthermore, it has been de Jong’s dream since his childhood to play for Barcelona, to don the same jersey as several Dutch legends like Johan Cruyff and Ronald Koeman among others. He has never dreamt of playing for Manchester United and wishes to continue at Camp Nou.

Apart from the three personal reasons, there are sporting reasons behind his decision as well. Man United will not play in the Champions League next season and de Jong sees that as a major stepdown.

On top of that, the midfielder believes that despite the history and success of Manchester United in the past, the team are ‘jinxed’, having struggled to reach the heights of the past since the retirement of Sir Alex Ferguson.

The weather in Manchester is also said to be a major factor in the Netherlands international’s decision not to join the Premier League club. Having enjoyed the pleasant climes in Barcelona, the midfielder does not wish to trade it for the rain in Manchester.

The seventh major reason for de Jong to turn down United is that he believes he can deliver what Barcelona manager Xavi Hernandez demands of him. Reports have indicated that the 42-year-old tactician believes Bernardo Silva would be a better fit for his tactics, but de Jong is ready to prove him wrong.

Big Premier League clubs are known to hand lavish contracts to their players. And if de Jong would join United, he would stand to earn handsomely. However, the Dutch ace is more than happy with his current package at Camp Nou, where he earns €14 million per year fixed.

On top of that, he will see his salary rise from this season due to the payment of deferred wages and loyalty bonuses. So a lucrative contract offer from United is also a non-factor.

Reason #9, as per the report, is that de Jong has been left displeased by the constant campaign in the media pushing him towards an exit from Barcelona. He has not been communicated anything by the club officials and he stands firm that he does not wish to leave.

The final reason for de Jong not wanting to leave Barcelona for Manchester United is that he is unhappy that all talks have taken place behind his back between the club without his consent or knowledge.

Despite reports claiming otherwise, there has been no contact with his agent and he has not given a green light to the move.
