Once a source of all positive news, Lionel Messi has become a controversial figure at Barcelona owing to his reported departure from the club. Strongly linked with Manchester City in the summer of 2020, Messi was forced to stay against his will by none other than Josep Maria Bartomeu.

It was clear that the club captain was not happy with this and it reflected in his performances on the pitch. Messi took till early November to score his first goal from open play in the season in the 5-2 demolition of Real Betis in round 9 of the La Liga campaign.

However, in an interview with LaSextaTV, Messi talked about his future, and his current feeling at Barcelona, where he confessed that he is feeling eager, excited about the season has gone. It seems like despite his ban and the loss against Athletic Bilbao in the Super Cup Final, Messi is feeling happy and excited about Barcelona’s form as reported by OnzeTV3.

Barcelona are on an unbeaten streak of ten games in the league, and have lost only one game in all competitions during this run. It also includes a four-game winning streak where Barcelona have scored ten goals and conceded just two.

Even though Leo was unavailable against Elche, he has scored seven goals and set up two for his teammates in the last seven games in the league, since the last time the club dropped points.

The reduction for Messi’s suspension was denied by the Spanish FA, and after serving the two-game ban, he has been included in the travelling squad list that will take on Rayo Vallecano in the Copa del Rey in the Round of 16. It is highly unlikely that the Argentine will play the entirety of the game, but will definitely play a part. Ronald Koeman, too, dropped hints about it in his pre-game press conference, saying, “Leo really is eager to play. He is a winner and wants to be in all the games. We have to wait until tomorrow to find out if he will play or not.”
