After what has been a terrible week for Barcelona due to injuries, they have been greeted by some positive news as Sergi Roberto is fit and in line to start against RCD Mallorca this weekend, reports Mundo Deportivo.

Barcelona lost Ronald Araujo and Jules Kounde to injuries during the international break. Soon after, Hector Bellerin also suffered a leg injury in training, leaving Xavi thinly stretched in the right-back position.

Roberto himself had been recovering from an Achilles tendon issue he had sustained prior to the international break, which had led to a lot of concerns among the Barcelona camp as they would have no senior right-back for the upcoming game against Mallorca.

It had sparked speculations that Xavi might turn to Barcelona Atletic right-back Alvaro Nunez while there had even been talks about using Eric Garcia as a makeshift right-back.

But, much to the relief of the manager, Roberto is fit and ready to go when Barça face Mallorca away at Son Moix this weekend.

The club captain had sustained an injury in the UEFA Champions League fixture against Viktoria Plzen, following which he missed three games against Cadiz, Bayern Munich and Elche.

Prior to his injury, Roberto, who was handed a new one-year extension during the summer, had made a positive start to the season. In five matches so far, the 30-year-old has scored and assisted one goal apiece.

Given that Barcelona do not have any other right-backs available possibly for the next month, the La Masia ace will have a critical role to play.
