Barcelona have made Leeds United winger Raphinha one of their top priorities for the summer transfer window, as they look to replace outbound winger Ousmane Dembele.

However, according to the Daily Mail (h/t Fichajes), Barcelona are now set to face competition from French heavyweights Paris Saint-Germain in pursuit of the 25-year-old Brazilian speedster.

Raphinha has been a revelation at Leeds United since joining the club from Rennes in 2020. The winger has impressed the onlookers with his pace, guile, skill on the ball and technical ability, contributing with crucial goals and assists along the way.

It has led to the forward attracting strong interest from clubs all over Europe, with Barcelona showing serious intent to sign him up in the upcoming window.

Indeed, the Blaugrana have already made an opening bid for Raphinha, which Leeds United have knocked back, as they demand €75 million for their prized asset.

And even though Barça are optimistic about their chances of landing the Brazilian winger, they will now have to contend with competition from PSG.

The Ligue 1 giants are bracing themselves for the departure of Kylian Mbappe, who is headed to Real Madrid. In addition, Angel Di Maria is out of contract at the end of the season and is likely to move on as well, leaving two vacancies in the final third at Parc des Princes.

So, even though there have been reports that PSG have an agreement to sign Dembele once his Barcelona contract runs down, they are in the market for another forward, with Raphinha emerging as a target, along with Wolves’ star Pedro Neto.

Les Parisiens’ financial muscle means that they will be in a much better position to meet Leeds United’s demands for Raphinha. However, the winger seemingly has his heart set on a transfer to Barcelona, with the Catalans in advanced negotiations with his agent, Deco.

Raphinha has scored nine goals and set up three more from 27 Premier League games this term. Given his quality, the 25-year-old can be an asset to any team he joins. What now remains to be seen is Barça can pip PSG to his signing this summer.
