It’s not like anyone expected things to be resolved so quickly but the meeting between Jorge Messi and Josep Maria Bartomeu ended without an agreement. The two parties, therefore, will continue negotiating.

That’s at least the latest word in the local papers. Of course, yesterday was also a big day for Ivan Rakitić who left the club after years of great service. Mundo Deportivo went with him on the cover with the quote ‘Thank you, Barça‘.

Of course, they also talked about the Lionel Messi situation but not in great detail. The paper claims the player’s father couldn’t convince the president so the saga continues.

SPORT are reporting exactly the same thing. The meeting between Messi senior and Bartomeu ended without an agreement so we have to wait for a bit longer.

Messi still claims he doesn’t want to continue and that his decision is final. Bartomeu, on the other hand, simply won’t accept that and is adamant on retaining the Argentine.

But even if he does that, what kind of a relationship can the best player in the history have with the club afterwards? It does seem like we’re past the point of no return.

However, some new reports state Messi could indeed be staying after all but those are just whispers and we’ll have to wait and see what ends up happening.
