Barcelona are a club that never sleeps. This, of course, is a double-edged sword as there is always something happening. Unfortunately, lately it’s been more bad than good and drama is simply always just around the corner of the Camp Nou. Yesterday, for instance, former president Josep Maria Bartomeu was arrested for corruption.

And while this doesn’t exactly come as a big surprise, Mundo Deportivo still call it a big hit for Barcelona.

Of course, justice has been served with this course of action and Bartomeu was not the only one to get arrested. He was, however, forced to spend the night in jail and now we await further updates. Alongside him, all three of the Chief Executive Officer of the club, Oscar Grau, former advisor to the presidency Jaume Masferrer, and head legal counsel Roman Gomez Ponti have been detained as well.

Mundo Deportivo call it a hit for Barcelona because it tarnishes their image. But, at the end of the day, if Bartomeu is guilty and has indeed been involved in the BarçaGate scandal, then this is the right thing to do.

SPORT are naturally covering the same things. The paper says Bartomeu will testify before a judge later on today.

Alongside him are the three aforementioned names and all are facing a similar destiny. Luckily, this will not affect the upcoming elections and the club will get a new president soon.

Hopefully, whoever is chosen in just days time will be a much better leader than Bartomeu.
