The media’s attention this morning is almost completely on Spain’s incredible demolition of Germany in yesterday’s clash. And rightly so indeed since Luis Enrique’s squad showed they are back and a force to be reckoned with.
However, there’s also some news on Barcelona as well. The biggest one comes from SPORT themselves who say the Catalans will face a huge salary cut in 2020/21 compared to last season.
In fact, they will have a budget of ‘only‘ €382, almost 300 millions less than last year, which is the direct result of both the raging pandemic and their less than ideal transfer business. This reduction of about 40% will limit what they can do in the upcoming markets, of course.
But even with that being said, sales will be a priority anyway. SPORT mention there are three Premier League clubs interested in Martin Braithwaite and the Blaugrana are ready to negotiate his exit.
Mundo Deportivo, on the other hand, are focused on the clash with Atlético Madrid this weekend and say a ‘new Barça‘ will face the Rojiblancos.
Without Sergio Busquets and Ansu Fati, both of whom are injured, Barcelona will have to mix things up and field a different squad against Diego Simeone’s men. It’s likely, the paper says, that both Miralem Pjanić and Philippe Coutinho get a chance in the gala XI.
