All pressure was on Barcelona to recreate their performance against Sevilla from the weekend as they hosted them at the Camp Nou for the return leg of the Copa del Rey semi-finals. Julien Lopetegui’s men had a two-goal cushion which was cut in half by a sensational goal from Ousmane Dembele.

Barcelona started the game in picture-perfect fashion, grabbing the match by the scruff of its neck. Sergino Dest was running the show from minute one and created two chances for Dembele early on, which the Frenchman could not take as clinically.

Soon after, though, Dembele turned up the heat as a failed pass to Lionel Messi from him dropped at his foot. He dragged the ball outside the box, and let one fly into the top left corner. Tomas Vaclik, covering for the injured Bonou, could only watch the ball hit the net and drop beside him.

That said, the match, and the tie, are far from over. And knowing Lopetegui’s team, they will try to hit Barcelona where it hurts in the second half, with the likes of Alejandro Gomez, Ivan Rakitic, Munir El Haddadi, and Jesus Navas waiting on the bench to get a chance.

Till then, there is ample reason to rejoice looking at Barcelona creating chances one after another.
