On-loan Barcelona forward Ansu Fati started for Brighton and Hove Albion in their inspiring 3-2 win over Nottingham Forest yesterday. However, within 21 minutes, the young forward asked to be taken off after experiencing discomfort in his calf.
The event panned out in the 19th minute when Tariq Lamptey delivered a pass into open territory intended for Ansu. As it turns out, the young forward struggled to cover the field and soon went to the ground.
Although he remained on the field momentarily, he signalled the urgent need for medical assistance and since he was unable to carry on, Roberto De Zerbi substituted him with Joao Pedro.
Toubles for Barcelona and Ansu Fati
It must be remembered that Barcelona sent Fati on loan to help him rediscover his lost form and although signs were positive until yesterday, another injury has sent shockwaves within the Barcelona camp.
Adding to the story, SPORT mentions that although Brighton are yet to disclose the extent of his injury, the circumstances are concerning, suggesting the possibility of a significant and potentially serious injury.
Ansu’s bad luck continues
During the international break, the young Barcelona forward took advantage of the days off to continue with his adaptability in England. Destiny as it seems, the joy has now been short-lived with another injury setback.
At the moment, the true severity of the injury remains uncertain, as the Premier League club has not disclosed the definitive extent of his condition yet.
This setback for Ansu has arrived at a time when he was enjoying his performances for Brighton.
Despite having stiff competition, he managed to secure his third consecutive start against Nottingham Forest, but the injury he sustained, presumably in his right calf, has now halted his progress, and there are speculations that the setback may be more severe than initially thought.
