Official: Ter Stegen will undergo surgery

FC Barcelona announced that Marc-André Ter Stegen will undergo surgery on his right patellar tendon. The German goalkeeper has had some pain in his right knee for quite a time now.
“I will undergo an Intervention for my knee-tendon. The medical experts and I discussed doing this ‘Clean-up’ as there were some irritations earlier this season. It’s a proactive intervention in order to prevent and prepare for the future.”, said Ter Stegen on his personal Twitter account.
He added: “I will need some weeks to recover and to return to 100%. I’m calm and positive about the situation, I will come back soon. Once again, thanks for all the support I’ve been receiving. I appreciate it a lot!”
The surgery for the Barcelona goalkeeper will be conducted under the charge of Doctor Ramon Cugat. Ter Stegen is expected to be out for 3 to 4 months. The club will provide more information once the operation is completed.
