Official: Samuel Umtiti signs contract renewal with Barcelona
In absolutely shocking news, FC Barcelona have announced that Samuel Umtiti has signed a contract extension with the club, legally tying him till 2026.
FC Barcelona and @samumtiti have reached an agreement to extend the latter’s contract until 30 June 2026. The French defender is reducing a part of the salary that he was due to receive in the year and a half remaining on his contract.

The official statement reads that the Frenchman has reduced a part of his salary that he was due to receive in the year and a half remaining of his contract. This operation helps Barcelona increase its ‘financial fair play’ quota’ and register Ferran Torres.
“FC Barcelona wishes to publicly express its gratitude to Samuel Umtiti for his willingness and the affection that he has demonstrated toward the club,” the press release reads.
Umtiti was rumoured to be his on his way out this winter, with several clubs, including Besiktas, AC Milan, Fenerbahce, among others, linked to him. However, it seems this U-Turn comes out of desperation for Barça, who have been forced to renew their sixth-choice centre-back to register new players.
