Barcelona simply cannot catch a break recently. All of their joyous news seems to be piped with linings of poor luck. An increase in creativity comes with poor finishing, encouraging changes in the lineup often accompany underperformance, and stellar performances from youngsters come hand in hand with injuries.
This time around, it is Ronald Araujo, who seems to have sustained a discomfort to his right leg during the pre-game warmup before the clash vs Granada. He will be replaced by Samuel Umtiti, which has been confirmed by Barcelona through social media.
Araujo was on a roll of man of the match displays recently, heading the defence in the absence of Gerard Pique. However, it seems like his injury against Juventus has come to bite him at the worst possible time for Barcelona.
This will be Umtiti’s first start of the season, who has only come off the bench in two games this season for a grand total of 20 minutes. A lot is riding on him as Barcelona hope to close the gap between them and Real Madrid in second.
