Lionel Messi’s future is still under a huge question mark. At the moment, all we know is that the Argentine won’t leave the club during the January transfer window but in six month’s time, his contract with Barcelona will come to its end and then, he’ll be free to leave wherever his heart desires.
We also know that Paris Saint-Germain are one of the contenders for his signature as the French titans are serious about creating a superteam and essentially reuniting Leo with Neymar Jr.
The Brazilian is also keen on that. In an interview not that long ago, he talked about wanting to play with Messi one more time in his career and according to Fabrizio Romano, who discussed the matter on his Here We Go podcast, PSG’s star is very serious about that.
However, given Barcelona’s dire financial situation, the only way Ney’s wish comes true is if Messi himself decides to join the Parisiens in the summer.
It would be highly unlikely for the Catalans to reverse their misfortune by the time summer rolls in to such an extent they have enough money to pursue one of world’s most expensive footballers.
Still, if PSG and especially Neymar are serious about their intentions as Romano suggests and Messi doesn’t change his mind about leaving, there is a possibility we see Leo in a different kit come summer time.
Let’s hope the new president, whoever he may be, comes prepared with a strong sporting project.
Barcelona legend says Messi is essential for the young Barcelona generation
Following what will forever remain an unforgettable might for the youngster, Ilaix Moriba scored his first goal for Barcelona. It was a sensational strike, as the young Spanish midfielder faked a shot one way, only for him to cooly dispatch it the other way.
Yesterday night, Barça legend Luis Suárez Miramontes had this to say both in regards to the club’s youth, as well as club veteran Lionel Messi: “For this group of young people it is essential that there is someone like Messi with personality and charisma so that they grow as they should. That is why it is necessary to maintain it.“ (via Carrusel)
Per earlier reports, the Barça captain has stayed true to this. He reportedly takes “special care” of Ilaix Moriba in particular so that the 18-year old doesn’t “deviate from the path of becoming an important player in the team.” This is one of Barcelona’s most talented squads in recent memory, full to the brim and overflowing with youth and exuberance, with all these players looking up to the Argentine.
The 85-year old is a Barcelona legend having played in Barça’s iconic colours from 1955 to 1961. He is widely regarded as one of Spain’s next footballers of all time, and a testament to this is the fact that he is still the only player from the country to ever win a Ballon D’or.
He has been heavily critical of the squad at times this season, owing to the fact that “they [Barca players] make the worst individual and team mistakes.” At least this time he has something to smile about.
