Barcelona have been blessed with good news ahead of the summer transfer window with regarding one of their priority targets, Lionel Messi. The Argentine is set to become a free agent in the summer, and the Catalans have publicly expressed their desire to bring him back.

For months, it was a given that Leo would end up penning a new deal with PSG on a contract worth two years. However, as called by Gerard Romero a while ago, the player had started to lean towards leaving the club in the summer.

Now, GOAL have reported that Messi’s renewal with PSG is getting more and more complicated, largely due to financial issues.

PSG have asked him to reduce his salary due to Financial Fair Play complications, but the player is not willing to do that for the French club.

He has also had doubts over PSG’s performances over the last few weeks and their sporting project.

Meanwhile, it has been reported that Messi is more than willing to reduce his salary should he join Barcelona. His reported wages would be around €10 million, plus any sponsorship and advertisement deals he will be offered.

While Barcelona have to find a way to make this transfer come to fruition after talking to Javier Tebas, they are convinced that they will be able to make up their losses after he arrives at the club.

He will also be given the #10 shirt, currently donned by Ansu Fati, as they are expecting a huge amount of jersey sales.

They are yet to make an official offer to Messi, though, given they have to reduce the wage bill by over €200 million before the market opens.
