Over the last few hours, Barcelona have been linked to signing a striker, and Edinson Cavani’s name has come up through several outlets. Now, if Gerard Romero is to be believed, the Uruguayan has agreed to move to Barça, but Manchester United are not in favour of letting him leave.
After signing Cristiano Ronaldo from Juventus, the Premier League outfit are stacked in the attack, featuring the likes of Marcus Rashford, Bruno Fernandes, Jadon Sancho, Jesse Lingard, Juan Mata, Amad Diallo, Mason Greenwood, Daniel James, Anthony Martial, and Cavani himself.
James is reportedly moving to Leeds United for a fee nearing €28 million, which would still leave them with surplus in the attack. Therefore, it is no surprise that Cavani would be fine with a move away now that he is likely to be pushed below Ronaldo in the pecking order.
During his only season at United, the veteran forward scored 17 goals across 35 matches (19 starts) and adds several facets to the Barcelona frontline.
However, with Rashford out from surgery and Sancho still settling in, this move will be complicated and could take some time. Barcelona can expect a heel turn in the next few hours only if United loosen up their stance on letting Cavani leave.
