There has been a lot of noise regarding the future of Bernardo Silva lately. After spending six successful years at Manchester City, the playmaker could be on the verge of leaving the Etihad this summer, which has put a host of clubs on red alert.

Barcelona are among the clubs interested in his services. The Catalans were notably in contention to sign the player last summer, but could not afford the player due to financial constraints.

It is pretty much the same case this time around, although Barcelona have yet to lose hope. The club’s president Joan Laporta has recently admitted his desire to sign the Portuguese international, as part of the club’s plans to improve the squad this summer.

Now, it appears Barça’s desires have been reciprocated by Bernardo Silva, who himself is keen on moving to Catalonia. This has been reported by AS, which suggests playing for Barcelona is, in fact, the dream of the Man City star.

However, it is unclear how this recent revelation would aid Barcelona in their pursuit of Silva. With the player still having two years remaining on his contract, he has a handsome market value of €80 million, which makes him an unrealistic option for the Blaugrana.

The club have tried to find out ways of reaching an agreement with Man City, but the Premier League champions appear to favour a cash-only deal. To that end, PSG are leading the chase to sign the Portuguese international, as they are in a position to finance the deal.

Judging by the way Barcelona have fared in the market in the recent past, a move to Camp Nou cannot be completely ruled out.

But considering the current circumstances, it would be next to impossible for the Catalans to engineer a move for Silva this summer, despite it being the player’s dream, unless there are some important departures from the club in the coming days.
