Manchester City ‘dream’ of signing €60m million-rated Barcelona playmaker – report
According to journalist Matteo Moretto, Manchester City have set their sights on Barcelona playmaker Dani Olmo, as the Premier League side look to bolster their midfield with a modern number 10 ahead of next season.
The Spanish international, who has long been admired by Pep Guardiola’s coaching staff, is reportedly on top of City’s wishlist for the summer transfer window.
City’s interest comes from their desire to add a versatile attacking midfielder capable of linking play, creating chances, and contributing with goals, a trait they will lack once Kevin De Bruyne leaves. In that regard, Olmo ticks all the boxes.
Move next to impossible
Interestingly, despite Manchester City’s intentions, a move is far from straightforward. Olmo only returned to Barcelona less than a year ago, fulfilling a dream to play for the club where he spent his formative years.

His comeback involved going through a number of personal and professional challenges, including the complex issue of his registration, which he handled with great professionalism and a positive attitude.
Barcelona, for their part, do not currently consider Olmo for sale. The club recognises his value and the role he has played this season under Hansi Flick, even if his campaign has been disrupted by muscle injuries and off-field issues.
Tough season, but stil valuable
He has still managed to register 11 goals and 6 assists in 36 appearances across all competitions, a respectable return for a player adjusting to a new system in a demanding environment.
Nonetheless, the situation could change quickly if Manchester City submit a lucrative offer.
Given Barcelona’s ongoing financial situation and the need to balance the books while reinforcing key areas of the squad, a significant bid, especially one exceeding €60–70 million, could force the club to at least consider negotiations.
