Man United showing serious interest in La Liga defender for the summer

According to reports from Spanish outlet Diario AS, Manchester United are seriously looking at signing Sevilla star defender Joules Kounde as early as January.
The Frenchman has been closely linked to many major clubs, including Barcelona in the past, but now due to their financial issues, he is off their radar and is being targeted by two Premier League giants.
Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea are really keen on signing Kounde. The Sevilla man has not only established himself as a wonderful defender in recent seasons, but Antonio Rudiger’s potential departure also means that the Londoners will have to get a solid presence at the back to replace the German.
Chelsea came very close to signing Kounde in the summer, but could not negotiate an agreement with Sevilla, as the Andalusians would not let him go without the Premier League outfit triggering his release clause.
Manchester United, however, have now entered the fray with interest in Kounde, aiming to snatch him away from Chelsea, given that Sevilla are now willing to lower their demands.
If the Frenchman’s €80m release clause does not need to be paid, both English giants will have a tough task at hand to convince Kounde of their sporting project to get him to join.
Tuchel is really keen on incorporating Kounde into his side, and the reigning European champions may have his success as a bargaining chip to hold higher ground in the negotiations.
