Now that Timo Werner is no longer a viable option, Liverpool have set their sights on Ousmane Dembélé, the latest reports coming from Bleacher Report (via Mundo Deportivo) state.

The story has been relayed by the always reliable Fernando Polo and the original report says that if the Reds are going to go for one star signing this summer, it will likely be Barcelona’s young Frenchman.

Jürgen Klopp was sure he could lure the former RB Leipzig star to Anfield, and the deal seemed all but done for quite some time, but then Frank Lampard decided to swoop in and snatch the coveted striker right in front of the reigning European champions.

This leaves the German manager without too many options on the table but Bleacher Report state that Liverpool like Ousmane Dembélé and that he is on their radar once again. Of course, there’s also the option of bringing Philippe Coutinho back to Anfield but his arrival is not the priority as of right now.

As for Barcelona, they still have hope their 23-year-old forward will become the star he was always meant to be since he has incredible abilities and sky-high potential. However, given that his contract expires in 2022, he will soon be at a turning point with the club, and they just might accept a deal in excess of 50-60 million euros, if such an offer arrives, that is.

Their financial situation is not exactly the best either and we know they want to sign Neymar Junior or Lautaro Martínez this summer. They won’t be able to go for both though and sacrifices will have to be made if they are to pull it off.

Will Dembélé be one of them? Only time will tell.
