According to SPORT’s Joaquim Piera, Barcelona have met with the representatives of Brazilian wonderkid Endrick to inform them about their interest in signing him.

The 16-year-old prodigy is widely regarded as one of the best young prospects coming through in South America after his exploits earlier this year at the Copinha tournament.

Endrick signed his first professional contract with Palmeiras recently after he turned 16 years old, but could be out of the club in a couple of years when he is 18. A lot of top clubs from across Europe are pushing for his signing, including Barcelona.

The Blaugrana have had their sights on the teenage sensation for quite a while now and they have now established contact with his entourage and have conveyed their interest in signing the 16-year-old forward.

The report states that the meeting took place between the club officials and Endrick’s representatives in Catalonia as they exchanged information on their current positions with regard to the forward’s future.

The Blaugrana explained to Endrick’s team in detail that they have been monitoring him for a while and he meets all the requirements that the club are looking for. At 16, he is already on the verge of making his first-team debut at Palmeiras and Barcelona believe he has huge potential.

Having conveyed their interest to sign Endrick to his agents, Barça now plan to hold talks with Palmeiras at the end of the season to strike a deal to land the Brazilian whizkid. The club are already working on the structure of the deal.

However, Endrick, whose contract with Palmeiras consists of a €32 million release clause, will only be able to leave Brazil when he turns 18 in July 2024.

Apart from Barcelona, the likes of Real Madrid and PSG are also keen on the teenager, with the latter, in particular, said to be the Catalans’ biggest competition.

The Blaugrana plan to initiate talks with Palmeiras in the summer, but are wary of committing to a deal as their financial situation is far from ideal. But with PSG hoping to press hard for his signing, Barça will need to act fast.
