A report from AS has revealed that Atletico Madrid are setting Joao Felix’s transfer price at approximately €60 million.

With this valuation, his continuity at Barcelona is no longer certain and a return to the Spanish capital is becoming a real possibility, even considering the issues he may face with his coach Diego Simeone.

Atletico are in the midst of an important decision-making process regarding players out on loan, especially Felix.

This is a significant matter, as the club made a substantial investment in the forward, but his time at Atletico has not lived up to expectations.

Joao Felix – to sign or not to sign?

Felix’s loan at Barcelona runs until the end of the season. Before departing for the Catalan club, he extended his contract with until 2029.

At 24 years old, he is in the prime of his career, but he hasn’t been a crucial player under Xavi’s management at Barcelona, especially in the second half of the season.

Despite this, Felix’s statistics are not entirely disappointing. In 41 official matches, he has scored ten goals—seven in La Liga and three in the Champions League—and provided six assists.

At present, nothing is certain but it is said that Barcelona club could seek another loan deal, but they would need to negotiate with Atletico.

Atletico know the challenges

Atletico value the player at €60 million, but finding a buyer willing to pay that amount might prove challenging.

Consequently, this has made the return a possibility, though it remains to be seen how things will unfold for the Portuguese forward.

The outlet suggests that there were candid exchanges between Felix and Simeone when the player left the club.

Felix expressed his happiness at being part of a team that played to his strengths, while Simeone acknowledged his distinctiveness.

With only four games remaining in the season, Atletico are expected to address Felix’s situation in the coming weeks.

If he returns, could he thrive under Simeone’s guidance? His standout performances at Barcelona often came against Atletico itself, leaving Simeone wondering if he could replicate that level of play consistently if he returned.
