Inter Miami are on the cusp of achieving the biggest milestone in the history of North American football, as they close in on the capture of Lionel Messi.

Everything suggests the Argentine has reached an agreement with the MLS giants and could finalise a deal, which may include partnerships with Adidas and Apple. In the process, the player would pass on the opportunity to return to Camp Nou this summer.

However, according to Gaston Edul, signing Messi will not be the only priority for Inter Miami. In fact, they are just getting started.

As per the Argentine journalist, the MLS giants are set to begin negotiations with other former Barcelona superstars in the form of Sergio Busquets, Jordi Alba and even Luis Suarez.

Alba and Busquets have announced their desire to leave Camp Nou at the end of the month. They will become free agents, which has already made them wanted prospects in the transfer market.

Busquets has been toying with the idea of joining Inter Miami for a long time now, and with Messi set to join, it appears only a matter of time before the veteran midfielder says yes to David Beckham’s team. The same applies to Alba, as he looks to take the next step in his career.

Suarez, meanwhile, currently plies his trade with Gremio. But he might entertain the idea of joining Inter Miami, in favour of a lucrative deal and most importantly, the opportunity to reunite with some of his old teammates.

All four including Messi were once indeed teammates at Barcelona, even helping the club secure the Champions League title in 2015. The prospect of seeing them in the same team could certainly evoke nostalgia among the Barcelona faithful.

However, signing all four players appear to be a tall order for Inter Miami this summer, especially under MLS’s strict salary cap. So it will be interesting to see how things transpire in the coming weeks.
