Having bid adieu to Xavi Hernandez after the team’s 2-1 win over Sevilla last night, Barcelona are now focused on beginning their new chapter at the earliest.

The man for the job appears decided beyond doubt – Hansi Flick. The German tactician has been Joan Laporta’s favoured option for a while now, and in the end, reigned supreme over names like Rafa Marquez and Thomas Tuchel.

While news of the appointment has been making the headlines for a few days now, an official confirmation is awaited. Fabrizio Romano provides an update on the same.

Flick will arrive tomorrow

It was initially anticipated that the German tactician would arrive in Catalonia today and finalise his agreement with the Spanish giants. The formalities, however, have been slightly postponed.

The ever-reliable Italian journalist now advances that Flick will arrive in Barcelona tomorrow. He is expected to sign his deal with Barcelona on Wednesday, flagging off the latest chapter in the club’s story.

His contract, as initially anticipated, will be for two years and will run until the summer of 2026.

A massive summer ahead

The reason behind Barcelona’s hurry to finalise and officially announce Flick’s arrival is the summer transfer window which is set to open next month. The presence of a coach to green-light or veto arrivals suited for his project, thus, is vital.

Bringing a whole new brand of football to Catalonia, the to-be manager has been rumoured to be interested in a number of players come June, albeit subject to the financial situation.

Joshua Kimmich, Leroy Sane, Jeremy Frimpong and Nico Williams are some of the players Flick favours, and while the club cannot pull off all the transfers, even a few will go a long way in the project that lies ahead.
