One of Barcelona’s biggest jewels, Pedri, has finally turned 18. The youngster’s coming of age must have been a highly anticipated moment and it seems it hasn’t exactly gone unnoticed by any of his teammates.

Just a couple of days ago, the Catalans travelled to Kyiv and secured their place in the knockout stages of the Champions League with a convincing victory over their hosts. But, according to SPORT, there was much more happening on their way back to Barcelona.

The local outlet states that Antoine Griezmann threw a ‘team party’ on the bus, blasting music and telling jokes – all for the birthday boy Pedri. The atmosphere was excellent and everyone was signing happy birthday and congratulating the youngster.

And since the time zones in Ukraine and Spain are not the same, the team had an extra hour to ‘party’ on their way back and the Frenchman was the main DJ on the night. Still, Pedri got a chance to celebrate privately, SPORT continue, the next day when he was visited by his family.

They had lunch at the player’s house and then he got all kinds of great gifts from everyone. Soon, however, it will once again be time for him to compete on the pitch as Barcelona are still looking to bounce back and start winning in LaLiga.

I’ve been a Barcelona fan for more than half of my life. What started as blind love is slowly turning into professional writing. Now, I get to write about Barca, analyse them, and voice my opinions on them across platforms. I’m happy to be a part of this big project.

After being starved of trophies for two years, Barcelona have won silverware, defeating Athletic Bilbao in the final of the Copa del Rey by four goals to nothing. Lionel Messi was on target twice, while Frenkie de Jong and Antoine Griezmann got a goal each as Barça cruise to victory.

Following the game, Griezmann, who opened the scoring for Barcelona, spoke to the media, including about his future. He jokingly replied to that question by saying, “Ask the president.”

He said that he was very proud of the team and how they have managed to turn around the season, “Proud of the team and the work. We know that the season is very long and there are good and bad times. Keep enjoying the team and in the end the reward will come.”

He ended the presser on a celebratory note, saying, “We have to celebrate this title and enjoy it as a result of the work we’ve done.”

The Frenchman has been in excellent form throughout the Copa del Rey campaign and spearheaded the comeback against Granada in the Quarter-finals. He also assisted Gerard Pique for a last minute equaliser against Sevilla when all seemed lost, and has now been rewarded with the first Copa del Rey win of his career. Onto bigger and better things, hopefully.
