Gerard Pique has never been one to shy away from voicing his opinions. Speaking to the famous YouTube star DjMaRiiO on his as well as the Post United channel, he discussed all things football, Barcelona and life. In the interview, he has made scathing comments aimed at referees who he claims are largely Real Madrid supporters and thus favour the Whites on the pitch.

“A former referee, who I don’t remember, perhaps Iturralde, said that 85% of the referees are from Madrid. It is a statistic that was said, you can look at it. How are they not going to whistle in favor of Madrid? Unconsciously, but how are they not going to shoot more than one side than the other. In the end, if you are from a club… I totally respect the professionalism of the referees. I know they try to do the best job possible, but then there is a moment of doubt.“ , Piqué explained in the interview.

Earlier, the Barcelona center-back also criticized former president Josep Maria Bartomeu and his leadership while speaking to Ibai Llanos, another renowned internet creator, on Twitch. Pique also opened up about the departure of Luis Suarez. When asked about the Uruguayan’s move to Atletico Madrid, the 34-year-old replied: ”I did not do it. Ask the one who let him go. It is not my fault.”

Pique also commented on Real Madrid president Florentino Perez, speculated about him becoming a Barcelona president in the future and praised Cristiano Ronaldo. In typically dry and witty fashion however, he concluded by stating his loyalty towards the Blaugrana and disdain towards their rivals:
“I would never, ever wear a Real Madrid jersey.”
