Five key stats from Barcelona 1-1 Cadiz — A display of horror finishing
Barcelona’s attempt to move close to Atletico Madrid in the La Liga table failed marvellously as Clement Lenglet’s brainfart in the dying minutes of the game gave away a penalty to Cadiz. Alex Fernandez made no mistake from the spot, cancelling out Lionel Messi’s opener from 12 yards out. All hope is pretty much lost now, across all competitions, as Barcelona have a mountain to climb with Sevilla and Paris Saint-Germain registering dominant leads in the first legs of the Copa del Rey and Champions League.
Meanwhile, Barça Universal runs the rule over the numbers from the draw against Cadiz, in what was a harrowing performance in front of goal from the Barça attackers.
Defence
It is only fair to start with Clement Lenglet. The man single-handedly responsible for the goal Barcelona conceded, and in consequence the draw. Cúles are yet to see the A-game from the Frenchman, who was on song for most of last season. Alas, simply not to be this campaign.

Midfield
Despite being chosen as the Man of the Match today, there is no stand-out statistic that does justice to Pedri’s performance in midfield today. Or to Sergio Busquets’ display, who created four chances for his team – joint-highest today with Sergino Dest. That said, the Octopus of Badia did reach a landmark in the Garnet and Blue.
Sergio Busquets is the fourth Barcelona player to reach 400 La Liga appearances after Lionel Messi (506), Xavi Hernández (505), and Andrés Iniesta (442).

Attack
Barcelona were constantly on the move today, creating chances, and taking shots from in and around the box, but it was not to be, as only four shots out of 21 met the target. Even Messi seemed off his game today, and could only convert the penalty won by Pedri. Despite that, all stats from the offensive end were about the six-time Ballon d’Or winner.

Speaking of individual achievements, the Barcelona captain also boasts the stat for most goals across Europe’s top 5 leagues in 2021. This is quite remarkable, in all honesty, given that he has been missing an awful number of chances in the past few weeks.
Lionel Messi has now the most goals in Europe's top 5 leagues in 2021 (11), surpassing Erling Haaland (10) and Robert Lewandowski (9).

After two against Deportivo Alaves last weekend, Lionel Messi continues to run riot in the league, tying Luis Suarez at the top of the La Liga goalscoring charts with 16 goals. His spectacular run also helps him claw his six successive game with his name on the scoring sheet.
Lionel Messi has scored in six LaLiga games in a row (nine goals) for the first time since February 2019 (eight appearances).

BONUS
The team may have dropped points, but Lionel Messi has become the player with the most appearances for Barcelona in La Liga, which is always a cause of celebration.
