€30m Barcelona star offered double-your-wage deal by Al Ahli, player wants more
Reports of Saudi Arabia’s interest in Barcelona midfielder Franck Kessie started doing the rounds on Tuesday night. It was suggested that a club from the Middle East, Al Ahli, was willing to make a ‘dizzying’ offer for the Ivorian.
Now, The Athletic provides more details on the offer that has been proposed by Al Ahli to Kessie.
As per the report, the proposal that the 26-year-old has received from the Saudi Arabian outfit would see his salary at Barcelona get doubled.
However, Kessie and his entourage are not entirely satisfied with the offer and have informed Al Ahli that they will need to improve it if he is to consider a move to Saudi Arabia, given that he has a contract with Barcelona until 2026.
Barça, for their part, are open to selling Kessie and would be happy to see him secure a transfer to Al Ahli.
The Blaugrana are seeking a transfer fee of €30 million for the former AC Milan star and Xavi has already informed him that his role will be reduced next season following the arrival of Ilkay Gundogan.
Kessie had also been linked with a move to Inter Milan as part of a swap deal involving Marcelo Brozovic. But it does not appeal to the midfielder given his past allegiances to AC Milan.
With Kessie seeking improved terms to consider a transfer to Al Ahli, the Saudi Arabian outfit are understood to be prepared to meet his demands despite having already offered to double his current salary.
Barcelona will be hoping that the new proposal from the Asian outfit is enough to convince Kessie to move this summer, which would see them reduce the salary mass and generate some much-needed income.
