Ousmane Dembélé is so adamant on succeeding at Barcelona that he trained despite the team having a day off. The Frenchman wants to convince Ronald Koeman to give him a chance to prove himself.
It’s been a rough couple of months for the young winger in the Catalan capital. As we now know, he was close to being sold to Manchester United but the financial difficulties that trouble the whole of the footballing world prevented that from happening.
But apart from that, Dembélé really wants to make it at Barça. So much so that he’s been spotted at the Ciutat Esportiva today even though he could’ve been at home relaxing.
And while this won’t immediately get him on Koeman’s good side, it’s a decent start. Of course, we have to remember that injuries have played a huge role in his unsuccessful start at the Camp Nou. Training, obviously, could help him avoid those situations in the future.
Let’s not forget that he also missed a session just a couple of days ago due to an illness. However, now, Dembélé trained on his day off to make up for the lost time.
So far, Ansu Fati has been chosen ahead of him in the first three games. And looking at what the youngster has done on the pitch, it’s easy to see why. But that doesn’t mean there’s no place for the Frenchman in the team as well.
And this is surely one of the ways to make the coach trust you a bit more. Let’s hope he manages to do it in the end.
It would be a shame not to make use of such raw talent and incredible potential.
Ronald Araujo returns to Barcelona first-team training ahead of Sevilla clash
This Saturday afternoon, Barcelona will travel to Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan to face Sevilla for the control of the third place in the table. The Andalusians have already proved they are an incredibly tricky opponent so this clash is bound to be a big one once more.
But there is some good news for Ronald Koeman ahead of the Saturday challenge. Barcelona have officially confirmed that Ronald Araujo is once again training with the team. Of course, the centre-back has been out of action for quite some time now and the Catalans have missed him dearly.
He may be still young and developing but the Uruguayan is a true rock in their defence. Having him available should definitely help in the remainder of the season, especially since Gerard Pique is also back.
However, we still don’t know whether Koeman will risk his defensive talisman right from the start this Saturday, even if he is given the green light. Sometimes, throwing players into the fire immediately, especially for such a huge game, can be counterproductive.
Araujo is surely eager to play but Koeman needs to think long-term when making this tricky decision. Despite the opposition and the importance of the match, maybe it wouldn’t be that bad to start him on the bench.
After all, he can always be substituted in if the team requires some extra solidity in the latter parts of the clash. Hopefully, however, it doesn’t come to that.
Either way, this is a must-win game and the team better be ready to face the challenge.
