After having reportedly beaten Barcelona to the imminent signing of Ajax defender Noussair Mazraoui, Bayern Munich could be poised to get one over the Catalans again.

Barça seemed the favourites to sign Mazraoui on a free transfer this summer when his contract with Ajax ran out. However, the German champions have reportedly swooped in late to reach an agreement to sign the Moroccan international.

Now, Fichajes is reporting that Bayern Munich are planning to repeat the trick with another Ajax player and Barcelona target, Antony.

The Brazilian winger has been a revelation since arriving at the Dutch outfit back in 2020. He has been in particularly impressive form in the ongoing campaign, notching up 12 goals and ten assists in 33 matches across all competitions.

The 22-year-old’s performances have led to him attracting a lot of interest from all across Europe, including Barcelona. The Catalans will need a new winger in the summer in case Ousmane Dembele ends up leaving on a Bosman deal.

Even if he stays, the Blaugrana could look to add Antony to their ranks, which might see Adama Traore returning to his parent club Wolves at the end of the campaign.

But Bayern Munich are set to intervene and make a play for the Brazilian international’s signing, reports Fichajes. It is claimed that their manager Julian Nagelsmann is keen on adding Antony to the squad despite the presence of Serge Gnabry, Leroy Sane and Kingsley Coman.

Apart from Bayern’s interest creating a roadblock, the Blaugrana would have found it hard to pursue the winger due to financial restrictions as well.

Antony is not the only wide forward that Barcelona are targeting. Leeds United’s Brazilian winger Raphinha is also very much on the agenda and is seen as a much more feasible option for the La Liga heavyweights.
