As Barcelona prepare for life after Ousmane Dembele, the club are ready to dip their toes into the market for further reinforcements to the squad.

A new right-back and a creative midfielder are currently at the top of the agenda for the La Liga champions, with Manchester City duo Joao Cancelo and Bernardo Silva emerging as the priority targets for the two positions, respectively.

If finances permit, Xavi would also like an attack-minded player that can replace Dembele directly, and Leroy Sane of Bayern Munich has emerged as a possible option.

Bayern Munich open to sale

Sane, whose market value stands at €65 million, has been with Bayern Munich since three years now and has grown into an important player, although he has not always been the most consistent of performers.

With two years left on his contract, the Bavarian giants are open to selling the 27-year-old winger this summer, reports Christian Falk.

The German journalist further goes on to add that Barça would be ready to move for Sane and that the €50 million fee from Ousmane Dembele’s departure would be enough for them to sign the former Manchester City ace.

Sane would, for all intents and purposes, be a good addition given his experience, age, proven pedigree, and quality.

However, funds could be an issue as Barça will not be receiving the entire €50 million from Dembele’s sale and will likely only pocket half of it as per the terms agreed with the winger previously.

On top of the financial hurdle, Barça would also have to convince Sane to leave, which would be a challenging task as the player is not looking for an exit at this point.

Indeed, the 27-year-old is understood to have made up his mind that he will remain at Bayern Munich for the coming season and consider his future only in 2024 when he enters the final year of his contract.

“The German international has already decided to play at Bayern Munich this season so it would be difficult to convince him to leave as his contract at the Allianz Arena runs until 2025,” Falk writes.

“In addition to this, the former Manchester City star doesn’t want to think about his future until next summer.”

So, despite there being some degree of interest from Barcelona and Bayern Munich’s willingness to facilitate a departure, Sane will not be moving to Catalonia this summer.
