German news outlet Kicker is reporting that Bayern Munich right-back Benjamin Pavard has made contacts with Barcelona over a potential move in the summer.

It’s no secret that the Blaugrana are actively looking for a right-back and at the same time, a certain Benjamin Pavard seems to have made himself available for the suitors after it was made public that the Bavarians have decided not to rely on the Frenchman from the next season.

For now, Noussair Mazraoui has made the right-back spot his own at Bayern while Josip Stanisic can play the position too.

Interestingly enough, however, despite Bayern’s willingness to part ways with Pavard, they cannot make it happen just yet mostly because Mazraoui will be out of action for at least four to six weeks due to pericarditis.

As far as Pavard is concerned, there are claims that the 26-year-old versatile defender will leave Bayern in the summer and as he continues to examine the market, Barcelona have emerged as a possible candidate.

It must be remembered it is certainly not the first time Pavard has flirted with the idea of leaving Bayern. During the previous transfer window, leaving an exit was only a floating idea, but after this season, he might as well execute this.

For that particular reason, the aforementioned publication says that those representing the player have already established contacts with Barcelona and the team from Catalonia are not against the idea in the first place.

As Kicker quotes, Barcelona are ‘looking for a six, a winger and a right-back’ and although Pavard, himself, prefers to play centrally, he remains a candidate for the team.

Now, it should be noted that Pavard’s ongoing deal with Bayern runs until 2024, meaning that any approach from Barcelona’s front will likely cost them a decent amount. In any way, the player’s willingness will also be key here.
