FC Barcelona can no longer avoid the reality of a trophyless season, as failures in both domestic and European competitions have prevented them from emulating the success of last season.

While the Catalans notably observed a drop in their collective quality, they have not shied away from vocalizing their frustration with some of the refereeing decisions that have gone against them this season.

One of the most contentious incidents occurred recently during the Clasico against Real Madrid when Lamine Yamal’s goal was disallowed by the video assistant referee.

Subsequent visual evidence revealed that the ball had indeed crossed the line, triggering a wave of criticism from the Barcelona camp.

Due to these concerns, reports claimed that the Technical Committee of Referees (CTA) agreed to host a delegation from Barcelona at their headquarters to examine the controversial footage.

Meeting cancelled

However, according to Adria Albets the leak regarding the Barça-CTA meeting has deeply upset the committee, leading them to cancel it.

While the meeting was originally planned for Thursday, the committee feels that Barça are trying to draw unnecessary attention to a discussion they have conducted with ten other clubs without it ever being publicized.

It was earlier reported that the CTA planned to meet with the Barcelona delegation in the coming days to present the exact images related to the incident.

Now that the meeting is set to be cancelled, Joan Laporta and co. will have to find alternative ways to address the dispute and ensure that the club’s concerns about the incident are properly resolved.

Laporta had previously suggested that he might take legal action if it could be conclusively proven through the images that the ball had crossed the line.

As such, Barcelona may consider escalating the matter through legal channels and taking more drastic measures.
