After Pedri and Gavi burst out as superstars in the making in the last two seasons, respectively, Barcelona have another player bursting out and making waves in the current campaign – Alejandro Balde.

The La Masia left-back had been in the first-team dynamics since last year when Ronald Koeman was still in charge of things. However, he did not receive regular minutes once Xavi Hernandez took over and spent most of the 2021/22 season with Barça Atletic.

However, things have turned around for the 18-year-old in the current campaign. After making a huge impresssion during the pre-season, Balde got his chance in La Liga in the second gameweek after Jordi Alba’s poor display in the opener against Rayo Vallecano.

And since then, the teenager has not looked back as he has become the first-choice left-back for Barcelona. Indeed, Balde has started each of the five La Liga games for Barcelona after not featuring in the opener.

With three assists to his name, the young left-back is also the joint-highest assister in the league this season as well. Naturally, clubs from across Europe have taken note of his talent and are circling to make a swoop.

Recently, it has been reported that Chelsea are keen on signing Balde next summer and are willing to pay €15 million for the defender.

Now, reports in Italy (h/t Mundo Deportivo) claim that Inter Milan have set their sights on a swoop for Balde in the summer transfer window of next year.

The Nerazzurri had tried to sign a left-back from Barcelona this past summer as well, having reached an agreement to land Jordi Alba on loan close to deadline day. However, the veteran star refused a move to San Siro.

They are now planning to try their luck with another Barça left-back in Balde next summer as they are not quite happy with the performances of Robin Gosens.

However, signing the 18-year-old from Barcelona will be easier said than done. The teenager has made a big splash this season and is next in line for a new long-term contract that should tie down his future at Spotify Camp Nou.
