Barcelona youngster could enter deal to sign 25-year-old La Liga midfielder

Despite recent reports suggesting that Barcelona had ended their interest in Valencia midfielder Carlos Soler, that might not be the case according to RAC1.
Indeed, the outlet is claiming that Barcelona remain intent on signing Soler from Valencia this summer and may even consider offering Nico Gonzalez as part of the deal for the Spanish international.
Soler, 25, has grown into one of the most reliable midfielders in La Liga since bursting onto the first-team scenes from the Valencia academy. Currently one of the club captains, along with Jose Gaya, the Spanish international is entering the final year of his contract.
Soler is not interested in signing a new contract while Los Che are also ready to move them on in the summer due to the club’s financial struggles.
Barcelona had been offered a chance to sign Soler and Gaya for a combined fee of €60 million only for the club to reject that proposal.
However, it is now being claimed that Barça continue to retain an interest in Soler and are interested in signing the 25-year-old. And in order to land the Spanish international, the Catalan giants would be open to offering youngster Nico Gonzalez as part of the deal.
The 20-year-old La Masia graduate enjoyed his breakthrough season in 2021/22 but saw his game-time take a hit under Xavi Hernandez. With the Catalans set to add Franck Kessie this summer and looking to add another midfielder, his prospects will take a further hit.
Nico has been attracting strong interest from Premier League club Wolves, but Barcelona might look to use him as a bargaining chip in the deal for Soler.
It remains to be seen whether such a move materialises or not. But, there is a good chance that Nico could end up leaving in the summer, either on loan or a permanent transfer.
