Dani Olmo will likely be one of the Barcelona will look at, as the club aim to reinforce their ranks in the creative unit.

A product of the famed La Masia youth academy, Olmo has been linked with a return to Catalonia for a while. And this coming summer could pose an excellent opportunity for Barcelona to strike, especially with the attacker having a release clause.

Olmo’s release clause has an expiry date

However, Barcelona must react fast if they are to secure the signing of Dani Olmo this coming summer.

That is because the attacker’s release clause at Leipzig, worth around €60 million, has an expiry date.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Olmo’s release clause at Leipzig will expire on July 15, once the upcoming European Championship in Germany comes to an end.

Once the release clause expires, interested parties such as Barcelona must negotiate with Leipzig over the potential exit of Olmo this summer.

Olmo’s agents to help out Barça

The report adds that Barcelona have an excellent relationship with Olmo’s agents, who will do everything in their power to provide facilities to the Catalan club.

However, the agents can only do so much if Leipzig remain adamant about their €60 million demand for Dani Olmo.

The report, in fact, reiterates that Leipzig will not negotiate for anything less than €60 million and that’s accounting for the release clause limit. Once the release clause expires, the German giants might even ask for more.

This could prove to be a problem for Barcelona, who are not in a position to spend €60 million on Olmo. Even if the Catalans make an effort, the club are in no position to bring forth such revenue before the July 15 deadline.

Hence, it won’t be surprising to see Barcelona setting their sights on other alternatives in the market, including Manchester City superstar Bernardo Silva.
