Although there has been some delay in the announcement of Hansi Flick coming in as the new Barcelona coach, the club have continued their preparation for the season ahead.

The Catalans are expected to undergo a major squad overhaul, and the arrival of Flick is unlikely to alter the fact that many first-team players could be offloaded in the coming summer.

Ronald Araujo is among the top candidates for a potential sale at Barcelona, as the club look to bring in fresh revenue.

Barcelona prioritising sale of de Jong & Ferran

However, a recent report from Que Thi Jugues has indicated that Ronald Araujo is not on top of Barcelona’s wishlist, as far as sales go.

Although Xavi Hernandez was in favour of listening to offers for the Uruguayan international, the club’s sporting director Deco wants the defender to stay at the club.

Barcelona, therefore, are prioritising the sale of two other stars before they consider the departure of Araujo this summer.

The two players in question are Frenkie de Jong and Ferran Torres, who recently made it to Spain’s preliminary squad for Euro 2024.

Barça are aware that both de Jong and Ferran might fetch good valuations in the market, with de Jong, in particular, still regarded as one of the finest midfielders in La Liga.

Barcelona have a grave problem

However, the report highlights that Barcelona face a serious problem in their bid to offload star players and trim the salary mass.

It appears not too many first-team stars are keen on leaving the club this summer and are intent on staying at Camp Nou.

Barcelona have dealt with this problem multiple times in the past few years – players are either unwilling to leave or simply struggling to attract suitors in the market.

The stakes could be a lot higher this time around and the club must find a solution if they are to trim the squad and make way for new players this summer.
