Contradicting claims continue to emerge on the situation of Leeds United winger Raphinha and his supposed transfer to Barcelona this summer.

Leeds had accepted an offer of around €75 million from Chelsea earlier this month. But with the player having already agreed personal terms with Barcelona, the deal with the Blues has not progressed.

In the meantime, Barça have reportedly returned with an improved offer for Raphinha, as they hope to get the deal over the line.

Some reports in the media insist that everything between Barcelona and Leeds has been finalised and the Brazilian could arrive next month. However, at the same time, there are also claims contradicting that, stating that the Whites are yet to accept the Blaugrana’s offer.

Gerard Romero, who first broke the news of a €60 million agreement between Barcelona and Leeds for Raphinha, continues to insist that an agreement has been struck.

The journalist claims that the La Liga giants have the deal sealed with Leeds for a week. He adds that the Blaugrana will be shelling out a sum of €50 million in fixed payments plus another €10 million in variables.

Romero also mentions that the two clubs have agreed that Barcelona will make these payments over three separate instalments.

Despite the journalist’s claim English sources continue to cast doubts on whether Leeds find those terms acceptable, especially with the Blaugrana wanting to pay the first instalment next year.

What’s for certain is that Raphinha has been excluded from Leeds’ pre-season tour to Australia and a clearer picture of his next destination should emerge over the next week.
