Over the past 18 hours or so, rumours of Xavi Hernandez continuing as the manager of FC Barcelona have started to gain weight.

In fact, only a while back, it has been reported that Xavi has requested the club leadership to discuss his continuity, during which he will pose some conditions for him to stay on.

One of the main concerns for Xavi is understood to be the squad and the need to strengthen it over the summer, with the manager seeking guarantees that it will be done.

Barcelona will not accept Xavi’s demands

Now, though, journalist Alex Pintanel, Barcelona will not accept Xavi’s conditions for him to stay on as manager.

If the former midfielder and club legend wishes to stay on at the club, he must adapt to the realities of the financial situation.

Barcelona president Joan Laporta remains a strong backer of Xavi’s continuity, although there is no total consensus within the sports department over the current manager.

So, there appears to be still some way to go before it is decided whether Xavi will be continuing or not.

As far as the hunt for a possible replacement is concerned, Alex Pintanel adds that there have not been any contacts with other managers about taking over the reins from Xavi.

However, the club has received approaches from agents of some managers to keep informed about the situation.

Either way, there is still nothing certain about how things might proceed and the meeting between Xavi and the club hierarchy should clarify the situation a fair deal.
