Barcelona have missed out on a series of South American gems in recent years, starting from Endrick and Julian Alvarez to Enzo Fernandez. They have not been able to attract South American talents, despite their strong reputation for nurturing talents.

However, the club management is looking to change the narrative by targeting up to three South American youngsters in the coming summer, reports Diario SPORT. The three players in contention are Vitor Roque, Fabricio Diaz and Angelo Gabriel.

Vitor Roque is the undisputed number one target for Barça, with coach Xavi Hernandez identifying him as the ideal reinforcement in the attacking department, as the club look to add a reliable long-term replacement for Robert Lewandowski.

Signing Roque could be tricky, though, with the forward likely to cost somewhere in the region of €30 million. In order to complete the operation, Barcelona must seek a dialogue with Athletico Paranaense, hoping that the Brazilian outfit accepts deferred payments and reduction of transfer value, in exchange for added long-term bonuses.

Fabricio Diaz, meanwhile, is considered a very talented midfield prospect, who could possibly become a long-term replacement for Sergio Busquets.

Although everything indicates the veteran Spaniard is set to prolong his stay at Camp Nou, he will not stay beyond 2024, thus accentuating the need for a long-term option. Diaz fits the bill well, having showcased immense talent during his time in his native South American so far.

Angelo Gabriel, on the other hand, is more of a wild card option. Barcelona have the first-refusal privilege for the explosive Santos winger, who has experience playing Copa Libertadores and has been courted by clubs across Europe.

Barcelona were close to signing Gabriel in January, but they opted to allocate resources for the contract registration of Gavi.

Nevertheless, the report suggests Barcelona cannot make a move for any of these three individuals, until they receive proper approval of their Financial Feasibility Plan. They are expecting a response from La Liga in the early weeks of May.
