Barcelona to rope in a new sponsor to help register first-team contracts of two stars

Barcelona are expected to mark a new achievement in terms of sponsorship dealing, with a report from Mundo Deportivo claiming that an American company, Travel and Leisure, is set to be roped in as a new ‘regional partner’.

The outlet says that Travel and Leisure is ‘dedicated to the business of leisure and vacations based in Orlando, in the state of Florida’. Considered as one of the world leaders in luxury travel, the company specialises in world-class resorts and vacation clubs, including Club Wyndham and WorldMark by Wyndham.

MD claims that despite the size of the company, a partnership with FC Barcelona will not really mark a large financial income for the latter. But, the deal with Travel and Leisure will aid the team to register the new contracts of Gavi and Ronald Araujo.

It must be noted that the contracts for the two players have already been internally closed, but they will only be made official when the team can register their deals by complying with the Financial Fair Play rules.

Interestingly enough, the complication of the Financial Fair Play matter was supposed to cool down by the exit of Memphis Depay. However, as it turns out, the Dutchman’s departure is expected to be followed by a new arrival to fill in the void.

In that regard, a certain Gancalo Guedes has emerged as a target. Despite the fact that the Portugeuse has virtually offered himself to Barcelona, the Blaugrana management has its fair share of doubts about his signing, meaning that a move this month is unlikely.

At this moment, Barcelona cannot really stretch themselves financially. They are already working on a tight budget and Depay’s departure means they need a contingency signing in order to go through the business end of the season.
