Barcelona to meet Atletico Madrid officials this week, will discuss €15m deal for winger

According to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona president Joan Laporta and other club officials will meet with their Atletico Madrid counterparts, including their president Enrique Cerezo and CEO Miguel Angel Gil Marin this Sunday.
Barcelona take on Atletico Madrid in La Liga on Sunday at Spotify Camp Nou, and the senior officials from both clubs will meet over a traditional pre-match lunch.
The meeting will reportedly take place will at the facilities of the Real Club Tenis de Barcelona, where the 70th Conde de Godó Trophy is going on.
During the meeting, Barcelona plan to discuss several topics with Atletico Madrid, one of which will be Belgian winger Yannick Carrasco.
As part of the agreement to sell Memphis Depay to the Rojiblancos in January, Barça secured a purchase option on Carrasco worth €15 million for this summer.
The 29-year-old Belgian international is a player that is admired by the Blaugrana as they seek improvements on their current options on the left flank.
However, considering that Carrasco will be entering the final year of his contract with Atletico, Barcelona are unwilling to pay the €15 million fee that was agreed upon and instead intend to lower that price.
It has been suggested that the La Liga leaders do not plan on offering more than €9-10 million for the Atletico Madrid ace. And during Sunday’s lunch meeting, there will likely be discussions about lowering the price tag for Carrasco.
Apart from the Belgian international, Barcelona and Atletico are also expected to discuss Wednesday’s La Liga assembly during which Laporta gave an explanation about the Negreira case to all clubs, while the topic of the Super League will also be on the agenda.
Barcelona face Atletico Madrid at a time when the two teams are in contrasting forms. The Blaugrana have failed to win their last three games in all competitions whereas the Rojiblancos have not lost any of their last 13 league matches, winning each of the previous six.
