Barcelona temporal president announces elections will be held around Christmas

Early next year, Barcelona will officially have a new president. After Josep Maria Bartomeu’s resignation, the club was left without its ‘leader‘ and currently, Carles Tusquets is performing the role on a temporary basis.
The ‘caretaker president‘ has also announced that the new elections will be held around Christmas as he addressed the media this afternoon in the Ricard Maxenchs press room, with SPORT providing us with the quotes.
“We will do everything possible so that they [elections] can take place around those dates [Christmas],” said the temporary president to the media.
The club’s management committee has the obligation of summoning the next elections within three months of the former president’s departure. That means that Barcelona have to have a new president by January but also that the time around Christmas is still suitable.
Tusquets also explained that a date earlier than that is not possible due to all the outside circumstances with the outbreak and the health difficulties caused by the virus. Similarly, he will personally meet with all the candidates who want to put their name forward, which is his responsibility.
In other good news, voting through e-mail will be possible as well, the temporary president has confirmed at the end of his press conference.
